Ancestral tablets & pedestals at Nirvana Memorial Garden
An ancestral tablet (祖先牌位) is a dedicated marker used in Chinese ancestral worship to represent and honour a departed family member. At Nirvana Memorial Garden, tablets are made of crystal or glazed glass (琉璃, one of the traditional Seven Treasures in Buddhism) and can be engraved with two to four photographs or two to six names. Tablets are housed within dedicated, air-conditioned tablet halls alongside Buddha and Bodhisattva statues, with sutra chanting played continuously. Engraving typically takes around 30 to 49 days, concluding with an installation ("rising") ceremony.
Placement Options at Nirvana Memorial Garden
Families may choose to keep an ancestral tablet at home as part of daily worship, or place it within a dedicated hall such as ours, where the tablet is cared for as part of daily temple life: continuous sutra chanting, joss-stick offerings, and a setting filled with Buddha and Bodhisattva statues, maintained by our staff rather than the family.
Alongside ancestral tablets, we also offer a Standard Pedestal and a premium Crystal Pedestal line as a related option for ongoing ancestral worship. Both ancestral tablets and pedestals can also be arranged in advance as part of pre-planning, with 0% instalment financing available over up to 48 months.
